How long has the farm been open to the public?
This fall is the sixth year Hill Creek Farms will be in operation.
Is membership required?
No, Hill Creek Farms is open to the public.
What is the cost of leasing three trees?
Sets of three trees (Jonagold, Cameo and Fuji, growing side-by-side) are available for $225.
Are pets allowed on the farm?
Due to insurance regulations, pets are not allowed on the farm.
Gemstone Mining Experience At Hill Creek Farms
A unique, hands-on experience, mining for minerals, gemstones and fossils
Take a trip back to pioneer days, with this exciting, educational and engaging experience!
Have a “rocking” good time as you roll up your sleeves and sift through your own bag of treasure in our flowing sluice. Discover and identify genuine fossils, gemstones and minerals that can be taken home. This unique mining experience will be a memorable learning event sure to spark imaginations and the desire to Learn more about mining and geology.
Fun, Hands-On Mining Experience with a Bag of “Mining Rough” Containing Genuine Gemstones, minerals, or fossils.
- Pick out your bag of rough.
- Next, take your bag to the sluice. Place a handful of rough into the provided screened
- bottom box and wash it in the water. Your treasure will soon appear!
- This is an activity that children and parents can do together. Spend 10 minutes or spend an hour!
- Once you have found all your treasures, take them to our Assay Station to identify what you unearthed. Then put them in the keepsake bag to take home!
***Great for groups and school trips. Our mining can hold 32 miners at one time.
We are closed for the 2014 Season
We would like to thank you for making this a fantastic Fall Season! We will be reopening in late August for the 2015 season. We expect a full harvest, and we hope to see you then.
